Evacuation

The City of St. Joseph and Buchanan County have issued a MANDATORY evacuation of areas behind the L-455 levee system on the Missouri side and the area protected by the R-471/460 levee on the Kansas side. Forecasted crest is now expected to reach 32 feet between 1 and 4pm Friday. While the federal levees are in good condition and operating as they should, we must take precautionary measures to ensure the safety of our residents. For those evacuating in south St. Joseph, sheltering is available at the Keys Christian Church located at 3001 South 9th (9th and Mason). For questions and information, individuals can call the Emergency Operations Center number at 816.364.1377 for the city and county.

Be sure to stay connected through Facebook, Twitter, Channel 19 and our website for the latest update on the Missouri River flooding.
